BREAKING: Mass Protest Rocks Abuja, Lagos as Citizens Demand an End to Bad Governance.

Abuja, Nigeria – Wednesday, 01 October 2024 – Demonstrations by thousands of citizens against the country’s worsening economic situation turned Abuja and Lagos into a scene of protests today as Nigerians called for an end to bad governance. The protests, tagged “End Bad Governance” and “Revolution Now,” happened on the same day that the country marked its Independence Day anniversary.

Protesters held demonstrations at Eagle Square in Abuja and Lagos’s Ikeja Under Bridge, carrying placards and banners that called for good living, infrastructure, and accountability on the part of the government.

“The state of our nation today is deplorable,” said protester Emmanuel Johnson. “We want change, and we want it now.”

Security forces were deployed to control events. Scattered reports of clashes between protesters and police in some areas have emerged.

The protesters are asking for:

Improved economic management Enhanced infrastructure development Increased transparency and accountability Better education and healthcare services Job creation and employment opportunities State-by-State Situation – Abuja: Demonstrators protest at Eagle Square.
