PDP’S TIGHT GRIP ON RIVERS STATE: FO/GR’S INFLUENCE BECOMES AN ISSUE.

The recent report on party affairs in River State has brought to the fore the near-overbearing influence of FO/GR, an influential member of the PDP and a formal Esco. Aspirants jostling to contest for local government positions are falling over each other to get his blessing especially in Onelga Egbema Ndoni Local Government, thinking that with him, they are assured of victory. This has raised concerns about the democratic process within the PDP, the possible exploitation by other parties. His case has been dangling in limbo between the Simplified Group and the GDI faction, birthing speculations over his motive. His coming into this race has just provided an uneven playing field where aspirants are more concerned with having him on their side rather than building grassroots appeal. This may be a turn of events against the dominance of the PDP in River State, as this can now be an avenue for other parties to take over for better campaigns and to present better candidates. Other political parties, of which the APC, Labour Party, and some few others, are very observant with interest regarding whatever development and are ready to take over based on whatever happens there. Or would the PDP reach out to FO/GR to make the process more inclusive and democratic, or his influence continues to shape the path that the party will thread in River State? With the election for local government councils, the political situation has remained fluid.

Inhabitants’ Insights: FO/GR’s blessing is seen as the ticket to victory. Aspirants are more worried about his endorsement than reaching out to the people. PDP Insider. “The Simplified Group and the GDI faction are trying to win over FO/GR. It’s a game of political survival. Political Analyst The APC and the Labor Party are merely waiting for an opportune time to strike. If they can present credible candidates, they might just upset the PDP’s Candidate. Opposition Party Source As the political drama unfolds, what becomes crystal clear is a fact that the people of River State want and expect a democratic process led by the will of the people, not anyone’s whims. Will the PDP rise to this challenge, or will other parties seize upon an opportunity to make the difference? Only time will tell.
